On February 15, 1999, a grassroots organization held its first meeting in the Arborg town office to gauge support for the idea of building a heritage village in town. The Arborg Heritage Village became incorporated in May 1999, and it soon obtained charitable status. Since then, we've moved 14 buildings onto the site, and we're open to the public for tours during the summer season. Thanks to government funding, the Heritage Village is able to hire university students to give tours over the summer. In 2016, our students led tours for over 1000 visitors, including six international bus tours. Our tours are typically about an hour and a half to two hours. Shorter tours are also available.
To date, the Arborg and District Multicultural Heritage Village has advanced through strong commitment, dedication, and determination of the board, community, and local government.
